New Beginnings

Well, the opportunity has finally arisen. I’ve endeavoured to start my own Locksmith business like many other great locksmiths in Australia . Having started nearly a decade ago as a work experience kid at API locksmiths at Notting Hill, I had applied to start my pre-apprenticeship with NMIT Heidelburg. On a Friday I would go to the Notting Hill shop and there I had my first workshop experience. This Workshop had been around for years. The stories that came out of it were amazing. I was hooked! How many people had come through and worked on this bench? For years mates have been telling me funny stories that had happened and it was the Notting Hill workshop where the fights, stitch ups and pranks were pulled. It all seemed pretty tame when I was starting out there as an inexperienced apprentice. 

Once I had completed my pre-apprenticeship, South Melbourne API was to be my home for three years. There I was shown a great array of skills by great locksmiths and master locksmiths of the trade. In hindsight, I should have paid more attention but apprentice wages aren’t much ¯_(ツ)_/¯.
